Troubleshooting Common Issues with Zebra ZQ520 Printers

Issue(s):

  • I am unable to print delivery tickets on my ZQ520 due to printer failure
  • I am unable to print meter blocks on my ZQ520 due to printer failure
  • I am unable to print shift reports on my ZQ520 due to printer failure

Environment:

  • New Mobile Delivery
  • Zebra ZQ520 Printers

Resolution:

If you are working with a Zebra ZQ520 and you are experiencing printer failure, please try the following steps:
    1. Observe the status of the Bluetooth icon on the printer (solid, blinking, or greyed out).
      • The Bluetooth Icon blinking means it is receiving printer data
      • Bluetooth Icon Grayed Out indicates Bluetooth is Inactive
      • Bluetooth Icon On means Bluetooth link is established
    2. When sending print commands to the printer, observe the status of the envelope/data icon on the printer (solid, blinking, or not displayed).*
      • A Blinking data/envelope icon indicates the Data processing in progress
      • A Steady icon means No data being received
    3. Remove the battery from the ZQ520, then re-insert the battery.
    4. After you have re-inserted the battery, power cycle the printer (manually turn it off, and back on again using the power button on the printer).

This should resolve this issue for you, but if you continue to experience printer failure issues please call our Support Line!

Notes:

  • Observing whether the Bluetooth icon on the printer is solid/blinking/greyed out and whether the envelope/data icon on the printer is solid/blinking/not displayed lets us know if the printer thinks it's connected to anything (which may or may not be the correct tablet) and also whether it thinks it is receiving data or not.
