Android/Bluetooth - Unable to connect to meter, start delivery, print, or shift in/out

Issue / Question :

  • This article will provide generic troubleshooting steps to isolate or resolve issues relating to tablet/meter communication when using an Android tablet with Bluetooth communication to the meter.
  • If your driver is receiving errors related to meter communication, including timeouts, return code errors, printer errors, etc. please follow the below steps

Environment:

  • Cargas Energy
  • Mobile Delivery

Resolution / Answer:

  • Ensure that all cable connections between the register and printer are secure.
  • Briefly unplug the FireFly/Parani adapter's power source and then reconnect to power cycle the adapter. After it is powered, make sure that the FireFly/Parani's LED is lit.
    • If using an E:Count register, this adapter may be powered by the PCM and require a full truck power cycle to reset.
  • Check the Android OS settings to make sure the Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Clear the register of any pending deliveries and ensure a fresh ticket is loaded if applicable.
  • Fully power cycle all components in the communication chain.
    • Reboot the tablet.
    • Power cycle the FireFly/Parani (see step 2).
    • Turn off the truck to cut power to the register, then restart the truck.
  • Test on another tablet.
  • Check that the meter node is correct/try a different node if doing a truck set up
  • If the above steps fail, attempt to perform a manual pump and print delivery through the register.

If all above troubleshooting steps fail, and the driver is also unable to perform a pump and print, manual delivery, then this indicates a truck/register issue and will need to be looked at by your local truck mechanic or outfitter. If the driver can successfully deliver manually but is still unable to communicate to the meter through the application, please review the related articles for more in-depth troubleshooting or contact support.
